Klassik:XL: Tillmann Höfs and Benedikt Kristjánsson in concert

The two Genuin artists Tillmann Höfs and Benedikt Kristjánsson can be heard as part of this year's winner's concert of OPUS KLASSIK.
Höfs, born in 1996 and winner of the German Music Competition 2017, has swung into the highest spheres of his instrument in a chamber music duo with the Japanese pianist Akiko Nikami, graduate of the UdK Berlin, on the Genuin production "Air" published by GENUIN, with works from Vignery to Hindemith. At the concert they will present the piece "Villanelle" by the French impressionist Paul Dukas. For their recording the duo received the OPUS Klassik in the category chamber music/duo.
With folk songs - Icelandic in this case - the tenor Benedikt Kirstjánsson trumps. He has won the OPUS KLASSIK jury with a brilliant interpretation of the "St. John Passion" ("Innovative Concert") and now congenially combines the traditional sound of his homeland with the works of Franz Schubert. The Leipzig professor Alexander Schmalcz, who is in great demand worldwide, accompanies Kristjánsson at the piano on this Icelandic winter journey. With the tenor Benedikt Kristjánsson the remarkable CD recording Drang in die Ferne with Schubert songs and folk songs from Iceland was released in April this year.

The concert will take place on 12.10.2019 at the Joseph-Joachim-Konzertsaal in berlin and will be broadcast live on the internet.
