The ECHO Klassik winner 2012 Amaryllis Quartett at the VorECHO

Last Sunday the ECHO Klassik was awarded for the 20th time to outstanding artists of classical music at the Berlin Konzerthaus. The GENUIN tuba player Andreas Martin Hofmeir received the award as "Instrumentalist of the Year" - the first tuba player in the history of the ECHO to have done so.

At any rate, half the ECHOs were awarded to smaller labels, but only one of them was allowed to appear at the ZDF Gala: Andreas Martin Hofmeir from GENUIN. Werner Dabringhaus and Rainer Kahleyss from the independent association CLASS e.V. organised their own event this year for the first time, called VorECHO (PreECHO), at which ECHO winners have the opportunity to present their music. The Amaryllis Quartet, who were awarded the ECHO Klassik last year for the chamber music recording of the year, were amongst those who performed at the Villa Elisabeth in Berlin on 5 October starting at 6:00 PM.

Here you can watch an interview and parts of the concert of Amaryllis Quartet at the VorECHO.
