A passionate orchestral musician, he has performed in youth orchestras such as the Orchestre Français des Jeunes (2007) and the international Festival Orchestra of the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival (2009). With the latter, he has had several opportunities to perform Bach’s Double Concerto for two violins with the soloist Frank Peter Zimmermann. After a number of appearances as a soloist in Paris and the surrounding area, he performed for several months as an assistant principal with the orchestra of Tours in France.

In January 2010 he joined the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo as principal oboist. In 2013 he was appointed principal oboist of the Sinfonieorchester Basel, and has also been a permanent member of the Zurich Chamber Orchestra since 2017. In addition, he has performed with many renowned orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, and Mahler Chamber Orchestra.

Lachat has won numerous awards. In 2009 he received the first prize and an award for the best contemporary interpretation at the Festival Musical d’Automne de Jeunes Interprètes.
